This Sebastian miniature is from the series "Men who Made America." It is the figure of a Gandy Dancer taking a well earned break. A Gandy dancer was a railroad worker who used the Gandy shovel to lay railroad track.

Sebastian Miniatures was started in Massachusetts in 1945, by Prescott W. Baston. Their hand-cast and hand-painted pieces are prized by Sebastian Miniature collectors.

Dates/Marks: #SML-397 - Production of 2,987. Introduced in 1982/Retired in 1988. Side of base reads, "copr 1981 P.W. Baston Jr." Hand signed in pencil on the bottom.

Condition: No cracks or chips. Displayed in a glass cabinet.
