This is the original iteration of these beloved Dickens' characters, crafted by P.W. Baston in his Marblehead shop. According www.Sebastianworld.com, Baston had built a locking stage that would hold all of the Christmas Carol characters in place and had requested a patent on the device. His patent was denied in 1953. This particular piece has a BV of $65 to $75.
Sebastian Miniatures was started in Massachusetts in 1945, by Prescott W. Baston. Their hand-cast and hand-painted pieces are prized by Sebastian Miniature collectors.
Dimensions: Measures 4 1/4" high.
Marks/Dates: c. 1946 - 1953. The original pieces have a "patent pending" scripted on the side of the base. Later issues do not have that.
Condition: This piece has been displayed behind glass. All of the colors are crisp and original.
